At 0510 hrs June 4th 1942, a PBY 5 (call sign 'AV58') of VP-23 and under the Command of Lt. Howard Ady USN,
spotted a Japanese scout aircraft from one of the carriers heading for Midway.
At 0530 hrs they located the carrier force. Seconds later Lt. Adys radio operator sent this message:- "Enemy
Carriers!".

Rear Admiral D.M. "Mack" Showers, US Navy (Ret).
As a young Navy Intelligence officer at Pearl Harbor, Admiral Showers was part of the team that broke the Yamamotos' codes and were
therefore able to inform Admiral Nimitz that 'Midway' was the target of the Japanese Fleets.
